Level 2: Surfing Shakti Ongoing Yoga

This class is taught by:

Michelle Clay Gartland

Michelle is a wife, mom, grandmother and lover of life. She attributes her love of life to her grandparents who taught her to ‘Count it ALL Joy”. She is passionate about her family, granddaughter & practicing a healthy lifestyle. She loves gardening and long walks in the woods. She also holds a business degree in computer communications and has worked as a Software Engineer for 22 years. Originally from Cincinnati, she has lived in Toledo for 17 years.
She has had a dedicated yoga practice for 8 years. Feeling there was more to yoga than just the postures and wanting to share her love of yoga with others, she decided to learn to teach. She feels that the experience has brought positive changes to her life and now wants to show others how they might bring positive change to their lives by connecting mind, body & spirt through the wonderful journey of yoga.
Michelle is a 2016 graduate of Still Water Yoga Teacher Training and is a member in good standing of the Yoga Alliance.

Shauna Gilsdorf

Shauna Gilsdorf, RYT 200, had the privilege of growing up in an intuitive family that valued the healing power of movement. Her paternal grandfather practiced Reflexology and was active until his death at the age of 92. If she had a headache, her grandfather would massage her feet and explain how each area of the foot had the potential to heal. Her aunt studied Reiki and daily demonstrated the art of healing by connecting to something bigger than ourselves. Shauna grew up believing that the inner journey is the ultimate purpose of life and that lead her to yoga.

Shauna is the mother of four children and is happily married to her best friend, Thad. Dedicated to a life of service, she works as a Mental Health Professional on both adolescent and adult psychiatric units. As a yoga instructor, Shauna openly shares her wisdom and teaches from her heart. Her classes will be challenging mentally and physically in a genuinely caring and lighthearted manner. Shauna encourages mindfulness and being present in the moment. She is confident once you begin the yoga journey, you will be a lifelong student. Constantly inspired by her teachers and students, Shauna believes the best teachers remain lifelong students.

Shakti is a powerful creative force in life that makes everything possible.  It's in you, it's in me, it creates celebration and challenge, it is day and it is night.  The path of the yogi or yogini is to listen and open to Shakti.... that which is most alive and awake in every moment.  When we can align with the momentum of Shakti, movement in our bodies and lives comes with ease..much like floating downstream on a river.  Refine your practice and build endurance while strengthening your inner understanding of Shakti. Classes include intermediate backbends, forward bends, twists, standing poses, balancing poses as well as handstand prep.  New to Still Waters Yoga?
